EUS Pancreatogastrostomy

Advanced Therapeutic Procedure

Indication

Chronic Pancreatitis with pancreatic duct obstruction

Procedure Details

EUS Pancreatogastrostomy was successfully performed. The pancreatic duct was identified and punctured under EUS guidance. A wire was placed into the PD, and the tract was dilated with a 6Fr cystotome. A 10mm x 60mm fully covered metallic SEMS was placed.

A plastic stent was placed inside the metallic stent to stabilize and prevent migration of the metallic stent.

Procedure Steps

  • Pancreatic duct identified under EUS guidance
  • PD punctured and wire placed into pancreatic duct
  • Tract dilated with 6Fr cystotome
  • 10mm x 60mm fully covered metallic SEMS placed
  • Plastic stent inserted inside metallic stent for stabilization

ERCP - Pancreatic Duct Stenting

Pancreatic Duct Intervention

Indication

Chronic Pancreatitis

Procedure Details

A pinpoint major papilla was noted. PD cannulation was achieved from the minor papilla and dye was injected. The PD was found to be dilated in body and tail up to 5.6mm.

Communication of duct of Santorini was found to be of very small caliber. Cannula was passed into the pancreatic duct of body and tail. Duct of Santorini was dilated up to 4mm with biliary hurricane balloon. A 7Fr x 7cm single pigtail pancreatic stent was placed in the PD.

Key Findings & Steps

  • Pinpoint major papilla identified
  • PD cannulation achieved via minor papilla
  • PD dilated in body and tail (up to 5.6mm)
  • Duct of Santorini - small caliber communication noted
  • Santorini duct dilated to 4mm with biliary hurricane balloon
  • 7Fr x 7cm single pigtail pancreatic stent placed

Our Procedures

Complete Endoscopy Procedures

Comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy services

Standard Diagnostic Procedures

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)

Also widely known as an Upper Endoscopy or Gastroscopy, this procedure examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine (duodenum).

  • Examines upper digestive tract
  • Diagnoses ulcers, GERD, inflammation
  • Biopsy collection capability

Colonoscopy

A procedure to examine the entire large intestine (colon) and rectum. Essential for colorectal cancer screening and diagnosis.

  • Full colon examination
  • Polyp detection and removal
  • Cancer screening

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

A limited exam focused only on the lower portion of the colon, known as the sigmoid colon, and the rectum.

  • Lower colon examination
  • Sigmoid colon focus
  • Less invasive option

Enteroscopy

A specialized procedure used to examine the small intestine, which is often difficult to reach with standard scopes.

  • Small intestine visualization
  • Hard-to-reach areas
  • Specialized scope technology

Capsule Endoscopy

A procedure where the patient swallows a pill-sized camera that records thousands of images as it travels through the entire digestive tract, specifically to view the small intestine.

  • Pill-sized camera
  • Complete GI tract imaging
  • Non-invasive procedure

Advanced & Specialized Procedures

ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)

Combines endoscopy and X-rays to diagnose and treat problems in the bile and pancreatic ducts, such as gallstones or blockages.

  • Bile duct treatment
  • Gallstone removal
  • Pancreatic duct procedures

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

Combines an endoscope with an ultrasound probe to provide detailed images of the digestive tract wall and surrounding organs like the pancreas and liver.

  • Detailed organ imaging
  • Pancreas & liver visualization
  • Tumor staging

EMR / ESD (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection / Submucosal Dissection)

Therapeutic techniques used to remove early-stage cancerous or pre-cancerous lesions from the GI tract without major surgery.

  • Lesion removal
  • Cancer prevention
  • Minimally invasive surgery

PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)

A procedure used to place a feeding tube directly into the stomach through the abdominal wall under endoscopic guidance.

  • Feeding tube placement
  • Nutritional support
  • Endoscopic guidance
